  11. Well, evidently, nobody could (or would). I received three "me too" requests
  12. but no such list. I therefore assembled a list myself.

  16. Effect:        Rebuild the desktop file
  17. How to obtain:    Hold COMMAND+OPTION during startup.
  18. Restrictions:    None.
  19. Why use this:    When your icons are suddenly lost (and probably in some
  20.         other cases).

  23. Effect:        Don't mount the internal SCSI disk (ID=0) on startup.
  24. How to obtain:    Hold OPTION+COMMAND+SHIFT+BACKSPACE during startup.
  25. Restrictions:    Only on ADB keyboard.
  26. Why use this:    To by-pass a corrupt internal hard disk.

  29. Effect:        Startup the Mac with a minimal ROM-disk containing System
  30.         6.0.3, Finder 6.1x and AppleShare.
  31. How to obtain:    Hold COMMAND+OPTION+X+O during startup.
  32. Restrictions:    Only on the Mac Classic; this version of the System is NOT
  33.         recommended to run the Classic under.
  34. Why use this;    Don't know.

  37. Effect:        Kill the current foreground process.
  38. How to obtain:    Press COMMAND+OPTION+ESCAPE.
  39. Restrictions:    Only on System 7.0.
  40. Why use this:    After an application has crashed this might regain you
  41.         control of the machine in order to save work done in other
  42.         applications before restarting. Restart as soon as possible
  43.         afterwards because some things may have been clobbered by
  44.         the crashed application.

  47. Effect:        Zap the PRAM.
  48. How to obtain:    Hold COMMAND+OPTION+P+R during startup.
  49. Restrictions:    Only on System 7 (do ALL Macs have PRAM ?)
  50. Why use this:    Don't know.

  55.         (power is the key with the triangle on it)
  56. Restrictions:    Macintosh LC or Macintosh IIsi (which don't have a restart
  57.         button).
  58. Why use this:    To restart a hung system.

  62. How to obtain:    Hold COMMAND+POWER
  63.         (power is the key with the triangle on it)

  66. Why use this:    I don't really know what the interrupt key is for.

  70. In the same sources I found a multitude of strange combinations that work
  71. only in certain programs. Most of these are utterly useless (unless you
  72. really need to find the names of the beta testers of Word 4 :-) ).

  74. If there is interest, I will maintain, correct and extend this list. I expect
  75. that the "Restrictions:" lines are not 100% correct...
